Austin, TX \u2013 A new independent poll<\/a> from Texas Public Opinion Research shows the governor\u2019s race between Gina Hinojosa and Greg Abbott within just 3 points at 42% to 45%, inside the margin for error. Hinojosa is winning independents, moderates, Black voters, and Latino voters \u2013 who swung 40 points towards her in the span of 2 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cTexans are ready for change, and my plan is simple: save public schools, put money in your pocket, and end the Greg Abbott Corruption Tax,\u201d Hinojosa said. \u201cWhile Abbott still focuses on lining the pockets of his billionaire buddies and data center donors, I\u2019m traveling the state hearing from Republicans, Independents, and Democrats that are ready to rebuild the American Dream in Texas with an economy that works for the people, strong neighborhood schools, and safe communities.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Key Findings:<\/p>\n

Race tightens to 3 points, at 42% to 45% with 10% undecided. This is within the 3.4% margin of error, demonstrating Abbott\u2019s support continuing to hemorrhage. The same poll in May showed a 5-point race, 41% to 46%.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hinojosa is leading Latino voters by 38 \u2013 a 40-point swing since TPOR\u2019s May poll. The lead builds from Hinojosa\u2019s +9 and +27 leads in Texas A&M\/Siena and NYT\/Siena\u2019s June polls, respectively, and shows Hinojosa\u2019s message resonating with one of the key constituencies to win statewide.<\/p>\n

Abbott is the least popular he\u2019s been in his political career as he focuses on culture wars, ignores Texans\u2019 economic struggles, and publicly flip-flops on his support for data centers after promising to make Texas the \u201cepicenter\u201d of AI.<\/p>\n

Hinojosa is leading with Moderates (+18) and Independents (+5), demonstrating her ability to build a strong coalition of voters with diverse views and needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This polling follows two months of Hinojosa rolling out her policy platforms to save neighborhood public schools<\/a>, put money in people\u2019s pockets<\/a>, and end the data center madness<\/a> in our communities as she focuses on building a campaign with and for the people of Texas.<\/p>\n
