Someone in a red SUV pulled up behind them, rolled down the window and said something to the pair. Shots were fired at the red SUV as it drove away. Damoni Butler, 18, Davirion Sams, 20, and Walter Frazier, 21, were arrested on charges of aggravated assault.

Some Sendera Ranch residents are considering moving out of the area, but others, including Carruthers, are demanding something changes to bring peace back to the neighborhood.

The Star-Telegram reached out to far north Fort Worth’s council member Chris Jamieson’s office to talk about the incident and increasing crime.

In a written statement, Jamieson pledged to work to bring down the crime in Sendera Ranch, saying gun violence and disregard for human life have no place in District 10 nor Fort Worth as a whole.

The Sendera Ranch Homeowners Association declined to comment on the rising crime and the solutions it is considering.

“As a member of the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) Board of Directors, keeping our neighborhoods safe through proactive law enforcement is my highest priority,” Jamieson said. “I am actively collaborating with the Fort Worth Police Department leadership to expand visible patrols and step up security presence throughout the Sendera Ranch area.”

Carruthers said he has heard the homeowners association is considering adding Flock cameras to the area. The neighborhood is already highly surveilled by the cameras most Sendera Ranch homeowners have installed on the houses.

Flock cameras would capture images of cars passing though the area and retain the photos for 30 days in a database accessible by law enforcement.

Jamieson fully supports the idea, saying it would give law enforcement “a critical tool to track criminal activity, deter bad actors, and prevent future incidents.”

                Rachel Royster

                    Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Rachel Royster is a news and government reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, specifically focused on Tarrant County.
