EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Two El Paso business leaders donated $300,000 for Texas Tech Health El Paso’s future cancer center.<\/p>\n
According to Texas Tech Health El Paso, the CEO of Casa Auto Group, Ronnie Lowenfield, and his wife, Ashley, made the gift, which will establish the Ronald W. & E. Ashley Lowenfield Tumor Board Room at the Steve and Nancy Fox Cancer Center, which is currently under construction in South Central El Paso.<\/p>\n
This room is said to be a workspace where physicians, surgeons, radiologists and other specialists can look over complex cancer cases and develop treatment plans. <\/p>\n
The Lowenfield family announced the gift on Monday during a special event on the Texas Tech Health El Paso campus. <\/p>\n
“I think so much magic happens when people with a common vision get together and discuss ideas,” Ronnie said. “I wanted it to be a place where people could get together, be inspired and change the world.”<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve been a part of the Texas Tech community for a long time, and it\u2019s one of our favorite things to give back to,” Ashley said. “Ronnie loves really great thoughts and people coming together to share. He thinks everyone has something to give.”<\/p>\n

Veronica Escobar presents $1.031M for Texas Tech Health El Paso cancer tech<\/a><\/p>\n For the Lowenfields, the effort is personal, as there is a history of cancer in his family. <\/p>\n Cancer claimed the lives of both of the couple’s grandfathers, and then in 2023, Ronnie was diagnosed with cancer in his thumb. <\/p>\n Ronnie said he is now cancer-free, but the experience reinforced the couple’s commitment to expanding cancer care in El Paso.<\/p>\n “My hope is that the patients and their families have a sense of security because of the existence of this cancer center,” Ronnie said. “The financial burden of travel, the emotional burden of being away from your loved ones… is lightened.”<\/p>\n RELATED: <\/a>Group 1 Automotive donates $300K to support new Fox Cancer Center<\/a><\/p>\n Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A., president of Texas Tech Health El Paso, said donations such as the Lowenfields’ are key to building a top-tier facility for the region.<\/p>\n “Ronnie and Ashley Lowenfield have long believed in investing in the health and well-being of our community,” Dr. Lange said. “Their generosity reflects a shared commitment to ensuring families throughout the Borderplex have access to exceptional cancer care close to home. The Ronald W. & E. Ashley Lowenfield Tumor Board Room will shape some of the most important treatment decisions in a patient\u2019s cancer journey, and its impact will be felt for generations to come.”<\/p>\n
