{"id":390165,"date":"2026-07-29T05:02:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T05:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/390165\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T05:02:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T05:02:10","slug":"texas-man-71-convicted-in-child-sexual-abuse-case-in-curry-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/390165\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas man, 71, convicted in child sexual abuse case in Curry County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CLOVIS, New Mexico (KVII) \u2014 A Curry County jury convicted a 71-year-old Texas man of sexually abusing a child.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Bara of Muleshoe was found guilty of criminal sexual contact of a child under 13.<\/p>\n<p>The Clovis Police Department began investigating in March 2023 after school officials received a report that a 12-year-old had disclosed inappropriate sexual contact by Bara, District Attorney Quentin Ray said.<\/p>\n<p>During the trial, the victim testified about the abuse. Jurors also heard testimony from law enforcement officers and the child\u2019s mother before returning the guilty verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Bara remains in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced in October by District Judge David Reeb.
