(WLUK) – The USS Fort Worth, a U.S. Navy ship built at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, was decommissioned Wednesday in a ceremony in San Diego.<\/p>\n
Launched in 2010<\/a>, the USS Fort Worth<\/a> was one a series of littoral combat ships built in Marinette and Alabama to serve coastal areas. <\/p>\n However, due to a series of issues with the ships and changing priorities, the Navy has decommissioned several<\/a> of the LCS in recent years.<\/p>\n “By retiring early-hull test platforms like Fort Worth, the Navy redirects investments toward upgrading the remaining LCS inventory with enhanced capabilities.
