SUNLAND PARK, NEW MEXICO \u2014 Two amusement park guests received medical assessment following an incident on the Southwest Slinger ride at Western Playland on Friday night, park officials confirmed in a statement released Saturday.<\/p>\n
According to Western Playland management, emergency procedures were activated immediately following the event, allowing staff to safely evacuate the ride. First responders arrived on the scene to evaluate both guests for reported minor injuries.<\/p>\n
An initial review by the park indicates the Southwest Slinger was operating within normal parameters and adhering to manufacturer guidelines when the incident occurred. Park officials added that all required safety inspections for the Southwest Slinger, as well as all other attractions at Western Playland, are fully up to date.<\/p>\n
As a precaution, the Southwest Slinger has been removed from operation. It will remain closed indefinitely while park officials and manufacturing partners conduct a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the incident.<\/p>\n
“The safety of our guests and employees remains our highest priority,” the park stated.<\/p>\n
