Counter Service, the sandwich shop in New York created by\u00a0Chipotle founder Steve Ells, may be headed for Dallas.<\/p>\n
For now, Counter Service sandwiches are available at five locations in NYC, including one in Times Square. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise\u00a0that the entrepreneur who created a burrito chain with over 4,000 locations might be expanding his next food\u00a0company.<\/p>\n
Counter Service reps didn’t return an immediate request for comment about where the company would open in Dallas, or how our Texas city landed on its map.<\/p>\n
In the Wall Street Journal article, Ells notes Counter Service chefs make bread in-house. And “the pieces of meat are not perfectly shaped like the things you see in these chain sandwich places,” he said in the story. Chefs make all sauces and garnishes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Parallel with these hands-on techniques are intense tech systems, like one designed to detect friction points in high-volume restaurants, as Ells explained in\u00a0The Journal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Counter Service is likely to compete with\u00a0Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, Subway and new-to-Dallas restaurant Snarf’s Sandwiches<\/a>. But there’s room in the market for more sandwiches in Dallas.
