Four North Texas teachers<\/a> are being tapped to serve on a panel convened by Gov. Greg Abbott to help state leaders strengthen the state\u2019s public schools.<\/p>\n

Abbott announced the 21 members of his\u00a0Texas Classroom Commission<\/a> on Wednesday morning. The panel is tasked with making recommendations to lawmakers on issues such as bolstering classroom instruction, supporting teachers and improving the learning environment.<\/p>\n

Among the educators serving on the panel are Bobbie Lynn Weir, a career and technical education teacher in Richardson\u00a0ISD<\/a>; Eric Hale, an elementary school teacher in Dallas ISD<\/a>; Jean Streepey, a curriculum specialist in Highland Park ISD; and Tiffany Kilcoyne, an English teacher in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Abbott said teachers have \u201cthe talent, understanding, and expertise to ensure that every Texas student succeeds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why educators must be at the center of the conversation,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Texas Classroom Commission will help build on our historic investments in public education and deliver recommendations that strengthen classroom instruction, support teachers, and prepare the next generation of Texans.\u201d<\/p>\n
