Texas Tech University<\/a> has named Interim Chief of Police Amy Ivey as the new chief of the Texas Tech Police Department<\/a>, effective Aug. 1.<\/p>\n Ivey, who joined the department in 2012 after graduating from the South Plains College \u201cI am honored and excited to serve as the next Chief of Police for the Texas Tech A third-generation peace officer, Ivey earned her bachelor\u2019s degree from West Texas \u201cChief Ivey has demonstrated leadership throughout her career at Texas Tech. \n named interim chief in December after the retirement of Kyle Bonath.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n it is especially meaningful to be able to lead this outstanding department. I look

Chief Amy Ivey<\/p>\n
\n A&M in 2011 before entering the South Plains Police Academy. She quickly rose through
\n the ranks of the Texas Tech Police Department, achieving the rank of captain in 2021.<\/p>\n
\n earned the trust and respect of our campus community and is deeply committed to its
\n safety and well-being,\u201d said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec<\/a>. \u201cShe will further the mutually beneficial relationship between our police department
\n and those that it serves.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n safety programs, organized and conducted training programs for both officers and external
\n partners, and led numerous operational areas within the department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n about the people we serve,\u201d Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center<\/a> President Lori Rice-Spearman<\/a> said. \u201cI am confident she will lead with integrity and continue to make our campuses
