A big recruiting domino is now set to fall in the shape of Richmond Randle running back Landen Williams-Callis, who has announced that he will be making his college commitment on August 1st, and the finalists are the Houston Cougars, Missouri Tigers, SMU Mustangs, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies, all schools that received official visits from the big-time running back.<\/p>\n
Williams-Callis will announce his decision on Dave Campbell\u2019s Texas Football at 6:45 p.m. Central.<\/p>\n
The Longhorns got the final official visit with the dynamic running back during the official visit window in June, and they have since been trending positively in this recruitment, including numerous commits tweeting at the 5\u20197.5, 190-pounder in recent days.<\/p>\n
Williams-Callis is the nation\u2019s leading returning ball carrier heading into the 2026 season and would certainly add juice to the backfield he elects to join on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Texas already has one running back commitment for the 2027 class in Noah Roberts, but they are pushing to add Williams-Callis before shutting things down at the position for the cycle. Williams-Callis has been a high-priority target for Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke since he was hired, and despite initially not getting traction early on, things have been trending towards the Longhorns down the home stretch.<\/p>\n
Landing Williams-Callis would be another big step for Texas\u2019 efforts to secure another top-five recruiting class, and if things continue at the pace they have this summer they could make a serious push for securing a top-three class.<\/p>\n
