{"id":394464,"date":"2026-08-01T06:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T06:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/394464\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T06:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T06:00:09","slug":"ttuhsc-white-coat-ceremony-welcomes-class-of-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/394464\/","title":{"rendered":"TTUHSC white coat ceremony welcomes class of 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine welcomed its incoming 182-member class of 2030 during its annual white coat ceremony Friday at Buddy Holly Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Members of the TTUHSC academic medical community helped students put on their first white coats, symbolizing their entry into the medical profession.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">John DeToledo, dean of the TTUHSC School of Medicine, said the event marked a milestone for incoming students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis, for us, is a great celebration,\u201d DeToledo said. \u201cThis is a time where the students come to join us. They\u2019ve been preparing, they\u2019ve been waiting, they\u2019ve been anticipating for this day for years, and today is the culmination of that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Incoming medical student Lorren Cantu said she looks forward to the program and to serving patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI am so excited to begin this journey,\u201d Cantu said. \u201cI know they have a great curriculum and I\u2019m so excited to continue learning along with them. It is such an honor and a privilege to receive this education and I can\u2019t wait to continue showing that through patient care and serving my community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Students also recited an adaptation of the Hippocratic Oath, pledging to lead lives of compassion, uprightness, and honor.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
