7News\u2019 story about the incident<\/a> circulated social media.<\/p>\nThe incident began Sunday evening when, the victim said, Ramirez was standing at the service bar eating cocktail garnishes. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m like walking in like this, I have my head down, and I look up and see him,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
When the bartender, who asked not to be identified, asked him to move, he complained to her manager, telling him he was a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder and that no woman should speak to him that way.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guy comes up to the service bar, he\u2019s just kind of standing there. I look over him, and I\u2019m like, \u2018No, you can\u2019t be there,\u2019 and he ignores me, and I\u2019m like \u2013 OK, I come up to him and like, \u2018Hey, sir, I can\u2019t have you eating the garnishes; it\u2019s for drinks. You know you can\u2019t,\u2019 because he was eating the fruit,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd he was like, \u2018What do you want me to do, [expletive]? Want me to spit it out?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018No, finish it, but like, I can\u2019t have you standing here,\u2019 and he just got really upset,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The victim thought the situation was over, but about 30 minutes later, the two crossed paths again, and this is when, she said, Ramirez shoved her to the ground.<\/p>\n
The bartender said she got up and chased after him to photograph his face for police.<\/p>\n
When she called out for him to turn around, the victim said, Ramirez knocked her phone out of her hand, grabbed her and shoved her to the ground a second time.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest report, \u201cAfter the defendant struck the phone from her hand, she lost consciousness and was unable to recall the events that followed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victim said she suffered a broken tooth and a concussion when her head hit the ground, and had to undergo emergency dental work.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like become a trend for this violence on women, and it\u2019s kind of being, like, normalized,\u201d the victim told 7News. \u201cI just don\u2019t want to let another one of these people get away with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victim told 7News she had been anxious all week wondering if Ramirez might return and that she has been too scared to go back to work.<\/p>\n
On Friday morning, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found Ramirez at a Royal Caribbean cruise terminal and took him into custody. He was then transported by Miami Police detectives to the Violent Crimes Unit for questioning. <\/p>\n
From the beginning, she said, she just wanted Ramirez to be held responsible, and now the long arm of the law has caught up with him. The victim told 7News on Friday afternoon that she is relieved that he is behind bars. <\/p>\n
Hard Rock Cafe released a statement that reads in part: <\/p>\n
\u201cThis Hard Rock Cafe Miami Team Member has our full support and we have been in contact with her regarding this troubling incident.\u201d <\/p>\n
Ramirez remains at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and he will need to appear before a judge who will set his bond.<\/p>\n
