Fort Worth police say they\u2019re investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred Thursday, July 30, at a Dollar Tree store in the West 7th District.<\/p>\n

Fort Worth police say they\u2019re investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred Thursday morning at a Dollar Tree store in Montgomery Plaza by a man who was out on bond for a similar offense.<\/p>\n

Around 12 police units were dispatched to 367 Carroll St. starting about 8 a.m. after someone reported that a man tried to grab an employee \u201cand run away with her,\u201d according to the 911 call sheet.<\/p>\n

The suspect, 23-year-old Johntay Shawn Burgess, was arrested. He\u2019s currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $130,000 bond, according to court records.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect was previously arrested for a similar offense on 7\/10\/26 and is believed to be involved in an additional attempted kidnapping that occurred outside Salsa Lim\u00f3n, located at 925 University Drive, on 7\/29\/26,\u201d a police spokesperson said in an email.<\/p>\n

Burgess was charged with attempted kidnapping after the July 10 incident, but had had bonded out, according to court records.<\/p>\n

In addition to kidnapping, Burgess faces charges of resisting arrest, indecent exposure and assault on a peace officer or judge in connection with the July 30 incident, court records show.<\/p>\n

Police said they aren\u2019t able to release further information at this time, but the investigation into the attempted kidnapping at Dollar Tree is ongoing.<\/p>\n
