OXNARD, Calif. (KLTV) – Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams is headed into his second year with the team after rushing for more than 1,000 yards last season. <\/p>\n
Williams said the offense is on another level this year. <\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like we hit the ground running. We didn\u2019t really start from ground one. We just kind of built on what we could have done better from last year,\u201d Williams said. \u201cAnd I feel like we are executing and communicating well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams said there are some things on and off the field that he has worked on this offseason. <\/p>\n
\u201cOn the field, probably just my conditioning. And then even off the field, just my leadership,\u201d Williams said. \u201cBringing other guys along because I know it\u2019s a long season. We\u2019re going to need everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams is on the leadership council for the team. He said it means a lot to him, and he is impressed with offensive lineman Tyler Booker, who is also on the leadership council.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is just a great player and a great person all around. You can see it. See the way that he worked on the field? Same thing in the locker room and in the meeting rooms,\u201d Williams said. \u201cHe\u2019s vocal. He knows what he\u2019s talking about. So yeah, a lot of people look up to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Williams was with the Denver Broncos, new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker was on the staff. Williams said seeing where Parker is now is a testament to his hard work. <\/p>\n
\u201cI just told the defense when I walked off the field, I really do like how they look. They moving around real fast. A lot of stems, things like that,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI was with him in Denver actually. So just seeing his growth and his maturity and how far he came, it\u2019s a testament to his hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams spoke highly of second-year running back Jaydon Blue. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been doing excellent. Just every time he gets the ball I\u2019m just watching because I know he\u2019s going to make a play and make something happen. Just his speed and even just his maturity level,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI mean last year he was kind of a rookie. So he was kind of getting used to everything. But I feel like he made a big leap this year and he\u2019s doing well.\u201d<\/p>\n
