<\/p>\nTwo Fort Worth restaurants, including one near Texas Christian University, were temporarily closed during July 12-25 health inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.<\/p>\n
Dutch\u2019s Hamburgers at 3009 S. University Drive scored 22 on July 13. The inspector noticed some vegetables and chicken at an unsafe temperature, several gnats flying around the back room of the kitchen and rodent droppings in the dry storage area. There were also two small dead rodents found on a glue trap under the prep table. The restaurant was required to close until the rodent issue could be taken care of, but has since reopened.Captain D\u2019s at 8525 S. Hulen St. scored 20 on July 22. Organic matter was found on the soda and tea nozzles and there was no hot water at one of the sinks. The doors were open to let smoke out since the vent hood wasn\u2019t working, and several flies had gotten inside. The establishment was closed for several hours but reopened the following day, according to a restaurant spokesperson.<\/p>\n
Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours. No establishment scored more than 30 on this round of inspections.<\/p>\n
The Point On Lake Worth at 1349 Bomber Road scored 25 on July 14. Some food wasn\u2019t held at a safe temperature, raw fish and raw chicken were stored without a date marking and there was organic matter in the ice machine.<\/p>\n
Several food establishments had issues with roaches, and the inspector also found what appeared to be rat droppings inside a drink cooler at the QuikTrip located at 6601 Brentwood Stair Road.<\/p>\n
Ashim\u2019s Hibachi Grill at 424 Taylor St. scored 17 on July 22. Some chicken and shrimp weren\u2019t held at a safe temperature, and the sushi rice didn\u2019t have a time stamp. Two live roaches and some dead ones were seen inside the facility.Los Vaqueros at 2513 Rodeo Plaza in the Fort Worth Stockyards scored 16 on July 21. Two live roaches were found in the kitchen, several food-handler certificates were expired and the restaurant\u2019s health permit had expired in December.Red Claws Crab Shack at 5278 S. Hulen St. scored 15 on July 16. The inspector found organic matter in the ice machine, fly traps hanging in the kitchen and a dead roach in the hand sink drain.Worldstar Food Mart at 4244 Wilbarger St. scored 14 on July 14. There were dented cans in the grocery area, rust on the ceiling of the walk-in cooler and a dead roach near the beverage coolers.Montgomery Street Cafe at 2000 Montgomery St. scored 12 on July 24. Some vegetables were stored without a date marking and a dead roach was found on the floor.Hooters at 5350 Southwest Blvd. scored 11 on July 24. Some employees weren\u2019t following proper handwashing procedures and a dead roach was stuck on a wall near the dumpster exit.Mexican Restaurant Perez at 3702 Altamesa Blvd. scored 9 on July 13. Some personal drinks were improperly stored, and two live roaches were found in the facility.Sushi Axiom Hibachi and Bar at 12650 South Freeway in Burleson scored 8 on July 13. Dead crickets were seen in the storage shed, and dead cockroaches were found on a cutting board and in some plastic over the serving station.Dos Juanitos Mexican Food at 6541 Meadowbrook Drive scored 7 on July 15. There was no soap or paper towels in the restroom and two dead roaches were observed in the utility room.Acapulco Beach Restaurant and Seafood at 3112 N. Main St. scored 6 on July 17. Flies and dead cockroaches were seen in the facility.<\/p>\n
Stormie Monday\u2019s at 3509 E. Berry St. scored 21 on July 22. The inspector noted two repeat violations \u2014 perishable items not being held at a safe temperature and an insufficient number of sinks for employees to wash their hands.<\/p>\n
