DPS says a 16-year-old girl died after her SUV veered off U.S. 87, struck a City of La Vernia sign and rolled over early Sunday.<\/p>\n
LA VERNIA, Texas \u2014 A 16-year-old girl was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Wilson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n
The crash happened around 4:20 a.m. on U.S. Highway 87 at Chihuahua Street, just outside La Vernia.<\/p>\n
Preliminary information from DPS indicates the teen was driving a 2015 Lexus RX350 northbound on U.S. 87 when, for an unknown reason, the SUV veered off the roadway, crashed into the City of La Vernia sign and rolled over.<\/p>\n
The teenage driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Authorities have not released her identity.<\/p>\n
