The Parish of Corpus Christi, Cranebrook, joyfully celebrated its patronal feast recently, bringing together parishioners, visitors and the school communities for a day of prayer, witness and celebration.

The feast day, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, was held on Sunday, 7 June 2026. It began with a Mass celebrated by Fr Peter Williams AM, Vicar General of the Diocese of Parramatta, who was joined by Parish Priest Fr Abraham Kunnatholy CMI as concelebrant. It was a fitting celebration of the parish’s patronal feast, drawing the community together in thanksgiving for the gift of the Eucharist.

Following Mass, the congregation took part in a Eucharistic Procession through the parish and school grounds. Accompanied by sacred hymns, the praying of the rosary, and moments of quiet reverence, parishioners publicly witnessed their faith in Christ truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Many who participated commented afterwards on the beauty, solemnity and prayerfulness of the procession, describing it as one of the highlights of the day.

“The Eucharistic Procession was one of the most moving experiences I’ve had at our parish,” said one parishioner.

“It was both wonderful and deeply solemn. Walking together in prayer, singing hymns and praying the rosary while accompanying Our Lord through our parish grounds was a beautiful public witness to our faith. It was a day I’ll remember for a long time.”

The celebrations then continued in the school hall, where parishioners enjoyed a generous shared meal made possible through the many plates of food lovingly prepared and donated by members of the parish. The atmosphere was one of genuine fellowship, with families, friends and visitors enjoying the opportunity to gather together beyond the liturgy.

The afternoon also featured lively musical performances and cultural dances presented by talented members of the parish community, reflecting the rich diversity and vibrant spirit of Corpus Christi Parish.

A highlight of the celebrations was the drawing of the parish raffle. The raffle was enthusiastically supported by parishioners and the wider community, proving to be both an enjoyable part of the day and a significant fundraising success for the parish. The funds raised will assist the parish in its ongoing mission and pastoral activities.

The feast day was a beautiful expression of what it means to be a Eucharistic community: gathering around the altar, bearing public witness to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, and sharing in fellowship with one another. It was a day filled with faith, gratitude and joy, made possible through the generosity of the many volunteers and parishioners who gave their time, talents and hospitality to ensure its success.

“It was wonderful to see so many parishioners gathered in such a spirit of joy and unity,” said Parish Secretary Vanessa Sultana.

“Our feast day reminded us that while the food, music and fellowship were a wonderful part of the celebration, Jesus in the Eucharist was always our focus.

“Celebrating our faith together as a parish family made the day especially meaningful.”
