UVALDE COUNTY, Texas \u2013 The environmental crimes investigator for the Precinct 2 Caldwell County Constable\u2019s Office drowned Saturday in the Nueces River, according to a news release. <\/p>\n
In a news release, the constable\u2019s office said Ryan McKnight died while on a \u201cpersonal outing\u201d in Uvalde County. <\/p>\n
The drowning happened<\/a> near the Cooksey Dam, Uvalde County Sheriff Ruben Nolasco said in a Facebook post<\/a>. <\/p>\n McKnight\u2019s work with the constable\u2019s office involved investigating illegal dumping, environmental violations and other quality of life offenses.<\/p>\n \u201cRyan was much more than our Environmental Crimes Investigator \u2014 he was a valued member of our Constable\u2019s Office family. He approached every assignment with dedication, integrity, and a servant\u2019s heart,\u201d Constable Paul Easterling said in the release.<\/p>\n McKnight also supported school districts in Caldwell County. <\/p>\n \u201cWhether he was working alongside our deputies, assisting another law enforcement agency, supporting a volunteer fire department, or participating in programs with Prairie Lea ISD or Lockhart ISD, Ryan was always willing to help,\u201d Easterling said. \u201cHis passing is a tremendous loss to our office, our public safety partners, the school communities we served, and the citizens of Caldwell County.
