The Dallas Wings will play all home games at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas during the 2027 WNBA season, the team announced<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n The move gives the franchise a temporary 20,000-seat home while renovations continue at Dallas Memorial Auditorium, where the Wings plan to become a long-term tenant.<\/p>\n The Wings revealed the move in a video featuring All-Star guard Paige Bueckers, head coach Jose Fernandez and Dallas rapper BigXThaPlug. \u201cBig stars. Bigger stage. The next era,\u201d the team wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cToday\u2019s announcement marks a pivotal step in the team\u2019s relocation to Dallas as well as our continued growth as a professional sports enterprise,\u201d Dallas Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb said in a team release<\/a>.<\/p>\n Nearly triple the seating<\/p>\n American Airlines Center seats 20,000<\/a> fans for basketball, nearly three times College Park Center\u2019s 7,000-seat<\/a> capacity at the University of Texas at Arlington.<\/p>\n The Wings have played at College Park Center for 11 seasons since relocating to North Texas before the 2016 season. The franchise tested American Airlines Center with two regular-season games in 2025, including a record-setting<\/a> June 27 matchup against the Indiana Fever that drew a sold-out crowd of 20,409. It was the largest WNBA crowd in Texas history.<\/p>\n That turnout supports the team\u2019s confidence that it can draw larger crowds at American Airlines Center. The game was expected to feature Caitlin Clark, but she was ruled out with a groin injury. Despite her absence<\/a>, the sellout showed that a marquee Wings game could attract nearly three times as many fans as College Park Center can hold.<\/p>\n Temporary home while Dallas projects advance<\/p>\n The Wings signed a 15-year agreement with the City of Dallas in 2024 to play at a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium. Construction delays prompted the temporary move to American Airlines Center. As previously reported<\/a> by The Dallas Express, Dallas awarded Gensler a contract worth more than $25 million for work on Memorial Auditorium as part of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center overhaul.<\/p>\n Construction is also continuing on the Wings\u2019 permanent performance center at 1200 N. Cockrell Hill Road in West Oak Cliff. The team expects the facility to open in April 2027. The Dallas Express previously reported<\/a> that the City Council approved $5.5 million for design work in May 2025. In March, the council approved<\/a> an amended package authorizing up to $54.49 million in city-funded construction assistance and a developer fee.<\/p>\n What fans should know<\/p>\n Current Wings season-ticket members will receive the first opportunity to select seats and renew for 2027 beginning August 10.
