The operation was done in concert with the Texas Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Police say officers focused efforts on known hotspots for speeding and high-traffic areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Garland Police encourage residents and visitors to slow down every time they get behind the wheel,&#8221; the department said in a statement. &#8220;Speeding increases the likelihood of serious crashes and puts everyone on the road at risk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to TxDOT, speeding is the top contributing factor in crashes in Texas, and makes up about one-third of traffic fatalities across the state.
