Houston Methodist Hospital made U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll in the publication’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings, earning national rankings in 10 specialties and remaining the top-ranked hospital in Texas.<\/p>\n

Houston Methodist<\/a> was recognized as one of the overall top hospitals in the nation<\/a>, and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was again ranked as the best cancer hospital in annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report.<\/p>\n The 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings, released Tuesday, gave national recognition to several Houston institutions for specialties including cancer, rehabilitation, psychiatry and ophthalmology.\u00a0<\/p>\n Houston Methodist<\/a> placed on the Honor Roll, which recognizes 20 hospitals across the U.S. that excelled in multiple specialties. U.S. News also ranked the hospital No. 1 in Texas for the 15th consecutive year.<\/p>\n MD Anderson ranked<\/a> No. 1 in the nation for cancer care for the 12th straight year. It also ranked No. 6 in urology and No. 16 in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery. U.S. News determined the rankings by reviewing each hospital’s performance based on measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience, the publication said in a news release.<\/p>\n The methodologies for the Best Hospitals specialty rankings and the procedures and conditions ratings measure patient outcomes using data from more than 800 million patient records, according to U.S. News.\u00a0<\/p>\n “For nearly four decades, U.S. News has helped families and their medical providers navigate complex healthcare decisions,\u201d Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in the release. \u201cBecause most patients choose providers close to home, this year\u2019s debut of regional specialty rankings in cancer; cardiology, heart (and) vascular surgery; orthopedics and rehabilitation gives them an easy new way to evaluate their local options in consultation with their medical providers.”<\/p>\n EXPANDING CARE: MD Anderson opens colorectal cancer clinic amid rising young adult cases<\/a><\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was ranked the nation’s No. 1 hospital for cancer care for the 12th consecutive year in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings. Another Texas hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas-Fort Worth, was also named to the Honor Roll.<\/p>\n Several other Houston hospitals earned national specialty rankings.<\/p>\n TIRR Memorial Hermann<\/a> ranked fourth in rehabilitation, while The Menninger Clinic<\/a> tied for 12th in psychiatry.
