Deborah Jane Spivey, 75, was born on Dec. 23, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, entering into eternal life with her Lord and Savior.\n<\/p>\n
Born to Floyd and Kathleen Spivey, Deborah was the oldest of four children. She was raised in Adkins and graduated from East Central High School in 1969. During her youth, she was an active member of Mesquite Hall, where she was honored as Queen in 1968. Mesquite Hall became like a second home, filled with long trail rides, lifelong friendships, and countless cherished memories alongside her siblings.\n<\/p>\n
Deborah\u2019s adventurous spirit stayed with her throughout her life. She loved participating in Powder Puff races at San Antonio Speedway, embracing the thrill of racing with enthusiasm and determination. Whether she was casting a line while fishing or spending a peaceful day out on the water, she found joy in the simple moments and in sharing them with those she loved.\n<\/p>\n
She dedicated more than 40 years of her career to mortgage banking before retiring from Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union after years of faithful service. Beyond her career, Deborah had a passion for music, dancing, and classic cars. She approached life with energy, laughter, and an appreciation for every moment.\n<\/p>\n
If you knew Deborah, you knew her heart belonged to animals \u2014 especially dogs. She never turned away an animal in need, opening both her home and her heart to countless pets over the years. Her compassion, kindness, and unconditional love for animals touched everyone who knew her.\n<\/p>\n
Above all else, she cherished the opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines, attending their games, and proudly watching them play the sports they loved. Whether it was on the ball field, at the court, or wherever they competed, she was their biggest fan. The memories they made together will be treasured, and her strength, humor, and spirit will continue to live on through each of them.\n<\/p>\n
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Kathleen Spivey; her beloved daughter, Korkie Kerr; and her cherished granddaughter, Lei Lani Terrell.\n<\/p>\n
She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Maha and her husband Ronnie, Karrie Wiatrek and her husband Tyler, and Rhonda Vradenburg; her brothers, Floyd Spivey and his wife, Monica, and Michael Spivey and his wife, Nancy; and her sister, Pamela Spivey and her husband, Wayne Cavin.\n<\/p>\n
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Lance Vradenburg and his wife, Chelsea; Cameron Maha and his wife, Katie; Damion Maha; Corey Taylor; Cayla Taylor; Mattalyn Mead; Natalie Mead; Emree Wiatrek; Kason Wiatrek; and Arie Terrell. She was further blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will forever cherish her memory.\n<\/p>\n
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Practitioner Katie Franklin for her love, and unwavering dedication and compassionate care; to Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional support; and to the staff at Country Care Manor. Deborah formed many meaningful friendships with her caregivers, and her family will always be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and love they showed her throughout her journey.\n<\/p>\n
The family respectfully requests that those attending Deborah\u2019s memorial service wear red in celebration of her life.\n<\/p>\n
A memorial service will take place at Resurrection United Methodist Church on Knowlton Road in San Antonio on Friday, Aug. 7, with a gathering at 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m., followed by a reception.\n<\/p>\n
Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2-5 p.m.\n<\/p>\n
