{"id":398197,"date":"2026-08-05T09:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/398197\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T09:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:40:09","slug":"beyond-service-ii-poetry-and-prose-reading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/398197\/","title":{"rendered":"Beyond Service II Poetry and Prose Reading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bihl Haus Arts hosts &#8220;Speaking of Beyond Service: A Poetry and Prose Reading by Military Veterans&#8221; at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 4 at the gallery, 2803 Fredericksburg Road. <\/p>\n<p>The event is organized by Vietnam veteran and participating poet Edward Guadalupe Acu\u00f1a Lucio Cody Jr., featuring Monica Baietti, Dario Beniquez, Amanda Cerreto, Sarah Colby, Eduardo Cavazos Garza, Sandra Flores-Surprise, Terri Sparrow Harmon, Don Mathis, Miranda Serra, Jason Surprise and Deb Wesloh.<\/p>\n<p>The poetry and prose reading is in conjunction with the exhibition \u201cBeyond Service II: An Exhibition of Artworks by Military Veterans&#8221; which continues through December 18. It features paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture by professional artists who are veterans, as well as veterans enrolled in the Bihl Haus \u201cForward, Arts!\u201d program. The exhibition also highlights works by veterans currently or previously enrolled in the Bihl Haus Forward, Arts! program: Grace Bermudez, Dan Gamez, Passka Prowell, Fermin Gutierrez, Kim Guidry, Helen Tiseth and Nancy Williams-Sykes.
