Banner was one of several rappers at the\u00a0show honoring the 30th anniversary<\/a> of UGK’s 1996 “Ridin’ Dirty,” an album that signaled a national breakthrough for the Port Arthur duo and Southern rap in general. In the days since the sold-out tribute, his joyous performance has been shared, recreated and made into memes across social media.<\/p>\n

The performance connected instantly with fans at the show. Banner channeled Pimp C’s flamboyant persona in a teal, three-piece suit over a wide-collared shirt, with a flowing wig and umbrella, as he performed “Pinky Ring.” It was the perfect blend of camp and commemoration. Banner counted Pimp C as a friend and released a tribute song to him a few years ago.<\/p>\n

When Banner launched into his own “Like a Pimp, he began skipping around the stage. It’s that moment that several people have responded to with their own captions and clips.<\/p>\n

Hairstylist Andrea Mona Bowman said she was inspired<\/a> by Terrence Howard’s “Cadillac Richie” character in “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” a look she also created.<\/p>\n

Banner himself has been enjoying the ride, sharing several of the videos on his own Instagram account<\/a>.<\/p>\n
