We share this recognition with our extended family of docents, teaching artists, members, sponsors, and the more than 75,000 people who visit our free museum each year.

The recognition follows what the city described as a significant investment in modernizing the museum’s infrastructure. In its ranking, Glasstire highlighted the museum’s commitment to showcasing local and regional talent, along with the important artists represented in its permanent collection.

The honor comes during a period of growth for the museum, including the opening of Star Ceiling: El Paso, a privately funded permanent installation by artist Leo Villareal; record attendance for the recent exhibition Frida Kahlo: Sus Fotos; and the upcoming 2026 Border Biennial, opening in September at the El Paso Museum of Art and the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez.

The El Paso Museum of Art joins other institutions included in the ranking, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

The museum is free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday.
