EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Young patients at The Hospitals of Providence now have new places to play and decompress as the hospital marked the opening of two new play areas on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Hospital officials said the new spaces were made possible through a partnership with the nonprofit Spirit of Children, which provides hospitals across the country with resources. <\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the hospital celebrated the opening of the new spaces with a ceremony where organizers said the areas are designed to offer comfort and a place to heal for young patients.<\/p>\n
Victoria Gonzalez, chief executive officer of The Hospitals of Providence, said the hospital has created age-specific spaces for children and teens.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’ve been able to design three unique areas, one for infants, one for toddlers, and one for adolescents,\u201d Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n
The goal, she said, is to help young patients feel more at ease during their hospital stay.<\/p>\n
\u201cGet them comfortable, ease their anxiety, and aid them on their way as they to recover,\u201d Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n
Kimberly Scott, a consignment operator with Spirit Halloween Stores, thanked community members who donate at Spirit stores.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are coming into our Spirit stores, we are so grateful for the donations,\u201d Scott said. \u201cIt goes right here to Providence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organizers said Spirit Halloween stores in El Paso and Las Cruces are continuing to raise money for The Hospitals of Providence. <\/p>\n
