The overall weather pattern is changing only slightly, but just enough to bring daily opportunities for a few more showers through the weekend. High atmospheric pressure remains the dominant feature across the Lone Star State, keeping widespread rain out of the forecast. By the weekend, the ridge of high pressure will loosen its grip just enough for afternoon thunderstorms to become a little more common, especially east of Interstate 45 and closer to the coast. Even then, most neighborhoods will stay dry on any given day, with storms remaining hit-or-miss and short-lived.<\/p>\n
Most commuters shouldn\u2019t run into major problems, but a few weather-related slowdowns are possible during both the morning and evening drives.<\/p>\n
Before 7 a.m.: Patchy fog and low clouds develop west of Interstate 45, including around Katy, Sugar Land, Brenham and College Station. Visibility may briefly drop in spots, but widespread or dense fog is not expected.<\/p>\n
7 to 10 a.m.: Drivers that travel through fog-prone areas should allow a few minutes of extra time. Low clouds gradually lift, and visibility improves across the Houston metro.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Noon to 3 p.m.: Sunshine pushes temperatures into the lower 90s. Most neighborhoods remain dry through lunchtime.<\/p>\n
3 to 7 p.m.: The best chance for weather-related delays arrives during the evening commute as isolated thunderstorms develop along the sea breeze. Most communities won\u2019t see rain, but any storm could produce brief downpours, lightning and gusty winds. Areas near and south of Interstate 10 are most likely to see scattered downpours develop.<\/p>\n
After sunset: Storms quickly fade, leaving warm and humid weather overnight. Patchy fog may redevelop late Thursday night into Friday morning, mainly west of Houston.<\/p>\n
Even then, storms will remain scattered and largely confined to the afternoon and early evening, meaning one neighborhood could pick up a quick inch of rain while another misses out entirely.\u00a0<\/p>\n
