An officer with the Dallas Independent School District was shot and wounded Thursday morning at a Walmart Supercenter in northwest Dallas, officials confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. A second, unrelated officer shooting was reported<\/a> an hour and a half earlier in a residential neighborhood in North Dallas \u2014 less than three miles away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dallas Fire-Rescue was dispatched at 10:49 a.m. to a gunshot wound call at the store in the 4100 block of Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway. More than a dozen\u00a0Dallas police units were also responding to the location, according to a police call log. The calls were listed under \u201cassist officer with ambulance.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A DISD spokesperson told The News the officer was wounded while “assisting a citizen” off-campus. The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital; their condition was unknown.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Outside of Sam\u2019s Club, dozens of police officers and detectives swarmed the parking lot, questioning shoppers and drivers in the area.<\/p>\n

At least three Dallas police vehicles were parked behind the building, blocking the alleyway behind the Walmart, which sits next door and shares a parking lot with Sam’s Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of our associates and members is a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson wrote in a statement. “We’re working with law enforcement as they continue to investigate.\u201d<\/p>\n
