The draft Innovate Arlington Comprehensive Plan is now available for the community to review and comment on.<\/p>\n
Developed through 18 months of research, analysis and extensive community engagement, the Plan provides a long-range guide for how Arlington can grow, invest and make decisions over the next 20 years.<\/p>\n
View and comment on the Draft Plan<\/a><\/p>\n Innovate Arlington is designed to protect what residents value, prepare for future change and help the City respond to evolving community needs. It provides a shared direction for coordinating City decisions, public investments, development and community partnerships.<\/p>\n The draft combines residents\u2019 ideas with an evaluation of Arlington\u2019s demographic, economic, market and growth trends.<\/p>\n Five Community-Informed Visions<\/p>\n The plan is organized around five visions for Arlington\u2019s future:<\/p>\n
Together, these visions describe the Arlington residents want to build: a city with strong neighborhoods, a thriving economy, safer and more convenient ways to get around, healthy and sustainable places and a community where people feel connected and welcome.<\/p>\n From Vision to Action<\/p>\n Innovate Arlington has two parts.<\/p>\n The first part describes Arlington\u2019s community-informed vision, long-term policies, growth strategy and major ideas for the future.<\/p>\n The second part explains how that vision may be carried out through coordinated actions, recommended updates to development rules, strategic investments, partnerships and public progress reporting.<\/p>\n The plan does not rezone property, approve development projects or commit funding by itself. It provides direction for future decisions, which would continue to follow their required public review, budgeting and approval processes.<\/p>\n The five visions guide 31 goals and aspirations, 25 major innovations and 52 recommended near-term actions.<\/p>\n Major recommendations include:<\/p>\n
Share Your Feedback<\/p>\n Community feedback remains an important part of completing Innovate Arlington.
