Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Iowa has between 50 and 199 cases<\/a> of laboratory-confirmed, domestically acquired cyclosporiasis. As of Aug. 6, the Iowa Health and Human Services Department said there were 272 cases of the illness in 55 counties in the state.<\/p>\nDallas County tops the list with the highest number of confirmed cases in the state.<\/p>\n
The Dallas County Health Department, however, says it is beginning to see a decline in new cases.<\/p>\n
Dallas County recorded five cases in all of 2025. Since July, the county has reported 66 cases, according to the Dallas County Health Department\u2019s community health administrator, Abigail Coder. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe cases we\u2019ve seen \u2014 not all of them, but a majority of them \u2014 have been linked to the Michigan outbreak with the lettuce from Taylor Farms,\u201d Coder said.<\/p>\n
Coder said the department is no longer seeing many recent infections. Cases now under investigation appear to be connected to infections that occurred in early July.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s likely still linked to that larger outbreak and the food that has been recalled. It\u2019s gone,\u201d Coder said. \u201cIt\u2019s off the shelves. It\u2019s out of the restaurants. The lettuce is not shelf stable, so it\u2019s either in the compost bin or the landfill, and it shouldn\u2019t be causing harm.\u201d<\/p>\n
