SAN ANTONIO – Local families can get free school supplies and health services next month as Spurs Sports & Entertainment hosts its fifth annual Back to School Bash at Frost Bank Center.<\/p>\n

The event is set for Saturday, Aug. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. and is open to parents, students and teachers in grades K-12. Admission is free, but registration is required. Supplies and services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.<\/p>\n

SS&E said the bash will include free school supplies for K-12 students, along with dental, heart and glucose screenings. Free haircuts will also be offered. The event will also feature information booths for school enrollment, extracurricular activities, mental health support and family support services.<\/p>\n

And of course, students and their guardians will be able to meet Spurs players and the iconic Spurs Coyote!<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery student deserves to begin the school year with the tools and confidence they need to succeed,\u201d said Patricia Mejia, Chief Impact & Inclusion Officer at SS&E. \u201cBack to School Bash is about removing barriers for families while bringing our community together to support students and educators. We\u2019re grateful to our partners who make this event possible and help set thousands of young people up for a strong start to the school year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parents or guardians must be present with their children, and educators must show a teacher ID to enter, SS&E said.<\/p>\n

According to SS&E, the Back to School Bash has drawn more than 14,000 attendees since launching five years ago.
