{"id":400379,"date":"2026-08-07T16:50:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T16:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/400379\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T16:50:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T16:50:07","slug":"jojos-bakery-brings-homemade-breads-baked-goods-to-westlake-lake-travis-westlake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/400379\/","title":{"rendered":"Jojo\u2019s Bakery brings homemade breads, baked goods to Westlake | Lake Travis &#8211; Westlake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Family photos adorn the walls and vintage tables and chairs line the perimeter of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jojos-bakery.space\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jojo\u2019s Bakery<\/a> in Westlake, as the smell of freshly baked bread and cinnamon rolls wafts through the building.<\/p>\n<p>Jojo\u2019s Bakery opened in March 2025 by owner Lily Swartz, serving up homemade baked goods, breakfast and cakes.<\/p>\n<p>The background<\/p>\n<p>Swartz said she dreamed of opening a bakery since she was 10 years old.<\/p>\n<p>She grew up in the kitchen with her grandmother Joann, or \u201cJojo,\u201d and has always shared her grandmother\u2019s love of food, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always wanted a bakery,\u201d Swartz said. \u201cIn high school I would work in bakeries during my summer breaks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After attending the Culinary Institute of America after high school and working in several bakeries, including The Commodore Perry Estate and South Congress Hotel, Swartz turned her dream into a reality in the Westlake neighborhood she grew up in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did most of the build out ourselves,\u201d she said. \u201cI grew up in this neighborhood and the opportunity presented itself, so I went for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swartz\u2019s mom, brother and cousin all work at Jojo\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with family is the most special part and the hardest part,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen it\u2019s good, it\u2019s really incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the menu<\/p>\n<p>Many baked goods served at Jojo\u2019s use the same starter dough\u2014a recipe from Swartz\u2019s grandmother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat recipe is one of the things that inspired us to name the bakery after her &#8230; .
