The\u00a0Fort Worth\u00a0Fire Department\u2019s interim chief will retire next month after over 30 years in the fire service, city officials announced Thursday.<\/p>\n
Chief\u00a0Raymond Hill, who took the department\u2019s top spot in\u00a0October 2025, will leave the job\u00a0Sept. 1, according to a statement. Hill took over for\u00a0former fire chief\u00a0Jim Davis<\/a>\u00a0after Davis resigned while on administrative leave due to a \u201cpersonnel matter,\u201d the\u00a0Star-Telegram\u00a0previously reported.<\/p>\n Hill joined the department as a firefighter in 1994 and worked his way up the ranks before being named the assistant chief of educational and logistical services in 2018, according to the statement.<\/p>\n During his tenure, Hill \u201cled the department through one of the most significant operational transitions in its history\u201d as the department\u00a0assumed control<\/a>\u00a0of ambulance services and the city\u2019s former emergency medical services provider,\u00a0MedStar.<\/p>\n \u201cChief Hill has dedicated more than 30 years to serving the residents of\u00a0Fort Worth\u00a0with integrity, professionalism and unwavering commitment,\u201d Assistant City Manager\u00a0William Johnson\u00a0said. \u201cHis leadership during the City\u2019s transition to a fire-based EMS system has transformed emergency response and positioned the department for continued success.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt has been an honor to serve alongside the dedicated men and women of the Fort Worth Fire Department over the past 30 years,\u201d Hill said. \u201cTogether, we\u2019ve strengthened this department and achieved meaningful progress for the community we serve. I will always be proud of what we\u2019ve accomplished and have every confidence the department will continue to build on that success.\u201d<\/p>\n City officials will begin the search for the Fire Department\u2019s next chief \u201cin the coming weeks,\u201d according to the statement.
