The First Lady of Concordia was the first person buried on the original chapel that would eventually become Concordia Cemetery. Concordia is home to the end of so many different lives. One of the most important, both to El Paso&#8217;s history and to the history of the cemetery itself is Juana Maria Ascarate Stephenson.<\/p>\n<p>Juana&#8217;s death ultimately wound up leading to the creation of the southwests most legendary cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/attachment-pxl_20260510_013227655.jpg\" alt=\"Grizz\" loading=\"lazy\" onload=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('frame-loaded');\" onerror=\"this.parentNode.parentNode.classList.add('broken-image');\" fetchpriority=\"low\" width=\"2448\" height=\"3264\"\/>GrizzGrizz<\/p>\n<p>The Concordia Heritage Association asked me to team up with them and I could not say no! To have the honor of telling the story of such an important figure was something I jumped to immediately. I grabbed my trusty Director of Photography, Alicia Garcia, and we got to work trying to do justice telling the story of The First Lady of Concordia.<\/p>\n<p>How do you think we did?? Moad: 1st El Paso Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty<\/p>\n<p>Thomas P. Moad was the first officer killed in the line of duty in the city of El Paso. For years, his misspelled name sat on a dusty plaque until retired officer Harry Kirk shared his story with the world.
