Dallas police have upgraded charges against a 21-year-old man to murder after the victim of an alleged July assault died from his injuries, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Josiah Gomez was initially arrested on July 22 and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury in connection with an altercation outside a business in the 2600 block of Main Street, according to information released<\/a> on Friday by the Dallas Police Department.<\/p>\n Officers were called to the location at about 11:10 p.m. on July 5, 2026, for a major disturbance with an ambulance call. A preliminary investigation found that Gomez and Sylvester Victor, 26, were engaged in a physical fight when Gomez allegedly pushed Victor down a flight of stairs and then stomped on his head, police said.<\/p>\n Victor was taken to a hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n On August 6, 2026, the medical examiner notified investigators that Victor had died from his injuries.
