SAN ANTONIO – Tx \u2014 It\u2019s been four days since 2-year-old Aryanna Trevino Martinez was found unresponsive Monday. Aryanna\u2019s memorial service was yesterday. Neighbors are demanding answers about overgrown vegetation that has not been cleared near the creek where the 2-year-old was found.<\/p>\n
Anna Santellam lives nearby. She brought her granddaughters to Aryanna\u2019s memorial to pray for the young girl and her family.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019d think they would\u2019ve been out here the next day right,\u201d Santellam said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what the hold up is. What are they waiting for? Another accident?\u201d<\/p>\n
The 2-year-old was at the center of an Amber Alert after investigators said she wandered away from her home on Alleghany Dr, walked nearly 22 minutes to the greenway on Belle Ellen Dr, where weeds stand more than 6 ft. tall.<\/p>\n
According to the city\u2019s public works department the area was last mowed in June and is maintained on a quarterly schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no reason for that,\u201d Santellam said. This should be maintained the way we have to maintain our yards. You know, bi-weekly, monthly.\u201d<\/p>\n
The city says crews are scheduled to come out in September to cut vegetation near the creek on Belle Ellen Dr.<\/p>\n
