SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating after a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head just west of downtown.<\/p>\n
Around 7:15 pm on Saturday, police were called to the scene of a reported shooting in Progress near the corner of West Poplar Street and Northwest 26th Street.<\/p>\n
Police officers at the scene said that the victim had been on the phone with a friend when the friend reportedly heard a gunshot through the phone. <\/p>\n
The friend then called police and rushed to the victim’s residence to flag officers down.<\/p>\n
Officers forced entry into the home, located the victim, and rushed to perform life-saving measures. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Investigators say that it remains too early to tell if the shooting was done by somebody else, by accident, or as a result of an attempted suicide. <\/p>\n
