Aug. 7 (UPI) — Animal services workers in Dallas came to the rescue of a raccoon seen wandering a neighborhood for several days with a mayonnaise jar stuck over its head.<\/p>\n
The raccoon, dubbed Mayonesa by locals, had been repeatedly spotted over the course of multiple days in a residential area, but managed to evade capture attempts.\n<\/p>\n
A pair of Dallas Animal Services officers located Mayonesa in a tree near an abandoned house on Monday morning and waited at the base of the tree for the raccoon to come down.<\/p>\n
Mayonesa eventually descended the tree, and an officer was able to approach her from behind and safely capture her.<\/p>\n
She was taken back to Dallas Animal Services, where she was sedated and given fluids before the jar was removed.<\/p>\n
“Aside from dehydration after several days without food and water, she was in remarkably good condition and full of energy,” Animal Services said on social media.<\/p>\n
