SAN MARCOS, Texas \u2014 A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a 32-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
At approximately 1:58 a.m. Aug. 9, deputies responded to a shots fired call in the 5000 block of Crossover Road in San Marcos. While deputies were on the way, multiple additional calls reported that several shots had been fired and a man was lying in the front driveway of a residence.<\/p>\n
San Marcos police officers arrived first and found 32-year-old Sergio Raynaldo Mata, who had been shot multiple times. Life-saving measures were administered, but Mata was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m.<\/p>\n
Guadalupe County sheriff\u2019s deputies arrived and identified 21-year-old Miguel Angel Marquez as the person who fired at Mata. Marquez was detained at the scene.<\/p>\n
During the initial investigation, deputies determined that several rounds had struck and entered a vehicle and a residence across the street. An adult man who had been sleeping in the bedroom where the rounds entered was not injured.<\/p>\n
Marquez was taken into custody by Guadalupe County Sheriff\u2019s Office investigators and charged with murder and deadly conduct.
