Also, the Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office tries to shake down neighborhoods with special<\/a> patrols for protection. There\u2019s no money for things people need. The police get rich on overtime. I rarely see police in my neighborhood anymore. We need the police. What is going on?<\/p>\n

Why wasn\u2019t there an outcry in the Houston Chronicle about this? I saw something online in the Chronicle yesterday \u2014 that the constables are being paid more than the vice president<\/a> of the United States. Where\u2019s the outrage? Why do huge amounts of tax money go to the Harris County constables when they\u2019re trying to get neighborhoods to pay them, too? What is going on?<\/p>\n

Regarding \u201cHarris County to fund local investigation of Lorenzo Salgado shooting<\/a>,\u201d (Aug. 6): You\u2019ve got to be kidding me! $2.5 million for an investigation of the death of an undocumented immigrant who died after supposedly refusing to follow directions from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers? No wonder the county has budget problems. This is simply insane.<\/p>\n

While I wouldn’t normally disagree with letting Department of Justice investigations move forward before passing judgment, the DOJ is all Trump sycophants and therefore not trustworthy or even remotely believable.<\/p>\n

President Trump has built his administration with those who pledge their loyalty to him, not the Constitution or any of us. Please consider that when trying to sort out the killing of\u00a0Lorenzo Salgado Araujo or anyone by ICE.<\/p>\n

Regarding \u201cThe ‘Sharia threat’ is a hoax. Here’s why. | Opinion<\/a>,\u201d (July 30): Kudos to the Houston Chronicle for printing the op-ed of Siraj Narsi et al., noting that the \u201cSharia threat\u201d is a hoax. No one claims that we Jews are imposing anything on anyone else if we strive to live within halakha (Jewish law). Similarly, Muslims like those responsible for this piece have every right to be proud of their contributions to this country.<\/p>\n

But what gives those spreading the hoax a shade of respectability is the Islamists in Al Qaeda, Hamas, ISIS and the like, who truly do want to impose their extreme version of Islam on the West. The extreme Islamists truly are a problem. The Muslims represented here are the solution.<\/p>\n

Regarding \u201cKen Paxton\u2019s fundraising woes are beginning to worry some in the GOP<\/a>,\u201d (July 22): The Chronicle loves to report that Texas Rep. James Talarico’s campaign has more money than Attorney General Ken Paxton\u2019s. More evidence of delusional wishful thinking. Kamala Harris\u2019 campaign spent<\/a> over a billion dollars, lost all seven swing states and the popular vote.
