{"id":402702,"date":"2026-08-10T16:56:35","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T16:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/402702\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T16:56:35","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T16:56:35","slug":"american-operates-first-commercial-flight-with-esaf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/402702\/","title":{"rendered":"American Operates First Commercial Flight With eSAF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recent American Airlines flight from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Dallas\/Fort Worth quietly made aviation history for being the first commercial service powered by <a href=\"https:\/\/news.aa.com\/news\/news-details\/2026\/American-Airlines-and-Infinium-announce-commercial-passenger-flight-powered-by-eSAF-OPS-OTH-08\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"electro sustainable aviation fuel, also known as eSAF\">electro sustainable aviation fuel, also known as eSAF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">American said the eSAF batch was produced by clean fuels and technology company Infinium at a plant in Corpus Christi. The fuel was mixed with conventional jet fuel, tested, then delivered to Corpus Christi International Airport, where it was allocated to American\u2019s flight to DFW.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This marks the first delivery of eSAF to a commercial airport, and its first use in a commercial flight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Electro sustainable aviation fuel is a type of <a href=\"https:\/\/airlinegeeks.com\/tag\/sustainable-aviation-fuel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"SAF\">SAF<\/a> made from green processes; in Infinium\u2019s case, from waste CO\u2082 and renewable electricity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said its eSAF can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by over 90% compared to conventional petroleum-based jet fuel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis\u2004flight represents\u2004a significant moment for aviation,\u201d American CEO Robert Isom said in a news release. \u201cThrough our partnership with Infinium, we\u2019re demonstrating how next-generation technologies like eSAF can\u2004move\u2004from early investment\u2004to real-world application. Scaling SAF production\u2004at\u2004lower prices\u2004is essential to reducing\u2004emissions, strengthening our long-term competitiveness, and continuing to deliver the\u2004connectivity and economic\u2004benefits that our customers\u2004rely on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">American has an offtake agreement for commercial volumes of eSAF from Infinium\u2019s Project Roadrunner, which is partially supported by a separate agreement with Citi. The initiative is expected to begin eSAF production and deliveries in 2027.
