Later this year, the public is welcome to tour the sacred edifice from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Saturday, Nov. 21 \u2014 excluding Sundays \u2014 for its open house.<\/p>\n
A Monday, Nov. 2, media day is also planned for news representatives, and invited-guest tours will be held Nov. 3-4.<\/p>\n
With dedication dates as currently announced by the Church, this will be the first house of the Lord dedicated in 2027.<\/p>\n
The upcoming dates for the Fort Worth temple were first published<\/a> Monday, Aug. 10, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n This will be the second in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area, joining the Dallas Texas Temple<\/a>, which was dedicated in 1984.<\/p>\n A single-story building of approximately 30,000 square feet, the Fort Worth temple is being built on a 9.37-acre site<\/a> near the intersection of SW Hulen Street and Greenridge Drive in Burleson, just south of the Fort Worth city limits.<\/p>\n The late President Russell M. Nelson<\/a> announced<\/a> this house of the Lord for Fort Worth on Oct. 3, 2021, when he was President of the Church. It was one of 13 temples he announced in October 2021 general conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Oct. 28, 2023, ground was broken<\/a> for the Fort Worth temple. Presiding over the ceremony was Elder Jose L. Alonso<\/a>, a General Authority Seventy and then first counselor in the Church\u2019s North America Southwest Area presidency.<\/p>\n \u201cWe pray Thy blessings upon all our beloved neighbors, wishing them peace and solace as they unite in the pursuit of joy and hope,\u201d said Elder Alonso in his dedicatory prayer on the site. \u201cLoving Father, bless the youth of this area, igniting within them a fervent desire for goodness, unity and truth.\u201d<\/p>\n In 1845, Elder Lyman Wight \u2014 then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles \u2014 led a company of Latter-day Saints to central Texas.
