She will serve the remainder of Judge McClendon\u2019s term before starting her own full, elected term on January 1, 2027. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fossett previously won the Republican primary for the seat and is running unopposed in the November general election. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fossett has served as an assistant district attorney in the Lubbock Criminal District Attorney\u2019s Office for the past 14 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLubbock County is home to me and my family, and I look forward to continuing my service to this community and honoring the trust and responsibility that comes with this office,\u201d Fossett said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fossett also served as a prosecutor on Lubbock County\u2019s Adult Drug Court team.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
