A stolen\u00a0Fort Worth Fire Department\u00a0ambulance resulted in a pursuit and shooting on\u00a0Interstate 35\u00a0in\u00a0Austin\u00a0on Thursday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n
The ambulance was stolen Wednesday night from Station 4, located at\u00a02954 Old Mansfield Road,\u00a0Fort Worth Fire Department\u00a0spokesperson\u00a0Craig Trojacek\u00a0said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a developing story with multiple agencies involved,\u201d the statements reads.<\/p>\n
All southbound lanes of\u00a0I-35\u00a0were closed Thursday morning near central\u00a0Austin\u00a0due to \u201cpolice activity,\u201d according to\u00a0Texas Department of Transportation\u00a0officials.<\/p>\n
Photos taken by\u00a0KXAN-TV<\/a>\u00a0show the stolen Fort Worth EMS ambulance on an interstate bridge. The front of the vehicle has been damaged. Law enforcement sources told KXAN that the incident involved a shooting.<\/p>\n Fort Worth\u00a0police said the investigation into the theft is ongoing. The Star-Telegram has reached out for more information.<\/p>\n Austin\u00a0police said in a social media post about\u00a07:40 a.m.\u00a0that Texas DPS is involved in the investigation.\u00a0Austin\u00a0police said that the upper deck of\u00a0I-35\u00a0is expected to be closed for several hours, which includes a large portion of the freeway from\u00a0U.S. 183\u00a0into the downtown area.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a92026 Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
