{"id":405760,"date":"2026-08-13T19:48:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T19:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/405760\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T19:48:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T19:48:12","slug":"texas-teen-charged-with-manslaughter-after-deadly-high-speed-crash-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/405760\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas teen charged with manslaughter after deadly high-speed crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI) \u2014 A Texas teenager accused of barreling down a San Antonio road at more than twice the speed limit now faces a manslaughter charge after a crash that killed a woman, police say.<\/p>\n<p>Valerie Ann Keeny, 64, died after her 2021 Nissan Kicks was struck on August 3 near Hardy Oak Boulevard and Wilderness Oak. The crash happened as Keeny was attempting to turn left from westbound Sable Canyon onto southbound Hardy Oak Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest affidavit, the driver was identified as Jaquelin Maria Flores, 19.<\/p>\n<p>Flores was driving a 2020 Ford Explorer northbound on Hardy Oak Boulevard when the SUV collided with the driver&#8217;s side of Keeny&#8217;s Nissan.<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio Fire Department EMS personnel pronounced Keeny dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>According to witnesses at the scene, Flores was driving recklessly before the crash. Witnesses estimated the Ford Explorer was traveling between 70 and 80 mph in a posted 40-mph zone.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the Explorer&#8217;s Airbag Control Module and recovered crash data from the vehicle. The data showed the SUV was traveling 87 mph five seconds before the collision, more than twice the posted speed limit of 40 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Flores also did not have a valid driver&#8217;s license at the time of the crash.
