{"id":405862,"date":"2026-08-13T21:52:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T21:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/405862\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T21:52:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T21:52:09","slug":"bmk-pharma-manufacturing-research-facility-coming-to-allen-following-council-approval-allen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/405862\/","title":{"rendered":"BMK Pharma manufacturing, research facility coming to Allen following council approval | Allen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pharmaceutical manufacturing company BMK Pharma is coming soon to Allen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofallen.org\/government\/city_council\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Allen City Council<\/a> unanimously approved a zoning change request that allows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmkpharma.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BMK Pharma<\/a> to operate a manufacturing and research facility near the intersection of Central Expressway and Exchange Parkway at an <a href=\"https:\/\/horizon.agendalink.app\/player\/allentx\/6a3e98e1362a43c471f05766\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aug. 11 meeting.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The specifics<\/p>\n<p>The Allen Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of this change at a <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/allen\/government\/plans-for-manufacturing-research-facility-bmk-pharma-move-forward-in-allen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 21 meeting<\/a>. The building was previously zoned for shopping center uses, per city documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough this is a shopping center zoning district, if you all are familiar with the building, it is built in a little bit more of an industrial style,\u201d Community Development Director Hayley Angel said to council members.<\/p>\n<p>The zoning change allows the building to be used for \u201cresearch, design, development, production, storage and sales of pharmaceutical products,\u201d city documents state. The city\u2019s development regulations stipulate that the building can also be used for office space, retail sales, warehouse uses and a laboratory with a Level 1 biosafety rating.<\/p>\n<p>BMK Pharma produces sterile compounded medications to support health care providers, per the company\u2019s website. The company works to \u201cstrengthen the health care supply chain and improve medication availability,\u201d its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmkpharma.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website states.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Council held a public hearing for this item at the Aug. 11 meeting, but no residents spoke in favor or against the zoning change request.<\/p>\n<p>Also of note<\/p>\n<p>The company previously requested a similar zoning change for another property located directly to the south, Angel said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is identical to the property there to the south and pretty well aligns with the area,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pharmaceutical manufacturing company BMK Pharma is coming soon to Allen.
