Just months after announcing<\/a> plans for the project, Apple has opened its new Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Houston. The 20,000-square-foot center will provide free training and education to help businesses, workers and students build skills in smart manufacturing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cApple\u2019s expansion in Houston underscores Texas as the epicenter of American industry and innovation,\u201d Governor Greg Abbott said in a press release<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThis new facility will deliver the skills Texans need to excel in advanced manufacturing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple experts will provide hands-on training in many of the same processes used to make Apple products, including automation, quality control and product assembly. Participants will have access to production equipment, interactive labs and other tools designed to help businesses adopt smart manufacturing technologies and improve their operations.<\/p>\n

The center\u2019s first cohort of small- and medium-sized business leaders worked directly with Apple engineers on opening day, learning how to respond to production challenges and gaining hands-on experience with the lab\u2019s equipment, including assembling and laser etching a product.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple plans to expand training to local college students, helping prepare the region\u2019s future advanced manufacturing workforce.\u00a0The\u00a0AMC\u00a0is Apple\u2019s second manufacturing learning site in the U.S., following the opening of its Manufacturing Academy in Detroit in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Apple Expands its Houston Footprint\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0AMC is located at Apple\u2019s existing northwest Harris County facility, where advanced AI servers are already being produced and shipped. Apple plans to\u00a0start production of its Mac Mini at the center this year, marking the first time the product will be manufactured in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn less than nine months, we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into this Houston facility,\u201d said Apple CEO Tim Cook. \u201cWe stood up a factory, started production, and shipped the first advanced AI servers off the line. \u201cWe believe in American workers and American ingenuity, and we are moving at an incredible pace because we want to build more than great products. We want to build the future of American manufacturing.\u201d<\/p>\n
