{"id":407647,"date":"2026-08-15T22:32:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T22:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/407647\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T22:32:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T22:32:13","slug":"juveniles-found-with-loaded-gun-alcohol-in-horizon-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/407647\/","title":{"rendered":"Juveniles found with loaded gun, alcohol in Horizon City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014\u00a0During a traffic stop involving juveniles, officers with the Horizon City Police Department discovered a loaded handgun, as well as both open and unopened alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, officers observed a vehicle cut through a parking lot to avoid a traffic control device near Horizon Boulevard and Darrington Road, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers made contact with three juveniles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police reported that during a pat-down, one of the juveniles became physically resistant and repeatedly attempted to prevent officers from checking his waistband and groin area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An officer felt an object believed to be a handgun concealed on the juvenile, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As officers attempted to detain the juvenile, he allegedly continued resisting while the other juveniles began approaching the officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Additional officers responded to assist, and all occupants were safely detained without further incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers stated the juvenile admitted that he was concealing a handgun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A loaded Glock 17 handgun containing 17 rounds of ammunition was recovered by police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers also found open and unopened alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An investigation resulted in the other two juveniles being cited for minor in possession of alcohol and released to responsible parties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The juvenile found in possession of the handgun was taken into custody for unlawful carrying of a weapon and minor in possession of alcohol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was taken to the Juvenile Probation Department and released to the custody of juvenile detention personnel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
