If it wasn\u2019t obvious already, Matthew McConaughey is \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The Uvalde native and Austin local sang a bluegrass rendition of Ella Langley\u2019s smash hit on Aug. 12\u2019s edition<\/a> of \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.\u201d McConaughey is well-known for his Texas pride, which was reciprocated by Alamo Drafthouse earlier this week when the theater chain renamed an Austin location<\/a> after him.<\/p>\n

McConaughey\u2019s performance came during an audience suggestion segment, where Fallon pulled out a \u201cfan-written\u201d note asking if the actor could sing a bluegrass cover of \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sure enough, the curtains part and McConaughey is standing there with a mandolin ready to sing with indie folk band The Last Bison<\/a>. Fallon soon joined in playing the washboard.<\/p>\n

Matthew McConaughey sings \u2018Choosin\u2019 Texas\u2019<\/p>\n

McConaughey was already slated to be on the \u201cTonight Show\u201d to promote his new film \u201cThe Rivals of Amziah King.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film follows a beekeeper and musician that reunites with his former foster daughter and fends off threats to his honey business. \u201cAmziah King\u201d had its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Festival and releases in theaters on Friday, Aug. 14.<\/p>\n

McConaughey\u2019s \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d rendition comes the same week Langley is scheduled to perform at Fort Worth\u2019s Dickies Arena on Saturday, Aug. 15.<\/a><\/p>\n

Langley actually filmed the music video for the tune in Fort Worth at Stagecoach Ballroom<\/a> (at 2516 E. Belknap St.).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe video captures the spirit of Texas through the lens of Fort Worth\u2019s legendary Western heritage and live music scene,\u201d Visit Fort Worth said in a news release at the time. \u201cThe project spotlights Fort Worth as the ultimate Western destination.\u201d<\/p>\n
