Joshua Biosah, known as Houston rapper Josh Kream, says he\u2019s \u201cin shock\u201d that he was\u00a0arrested Tuesday night<\/a> at a sold-out Don Toliver concert<\/a>\u00a0after authorities accused him of carrying an unholstered handgun inside the Toyota Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not true at all,\u201d he said during a Friday morning call. \u201cI\u2019m still in shock, actually, a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert was cut short \u201cout of an abundance of caution for the safety of fans, the artist and event staff,\u201d according to a rep from Atlantic Records,\u00a0Toliver\u2019s label. Toliver had just performed the songs \u201cKryptonite\u201d and \u201cToo Many Nights\u201d \u00a0before walking offstage around 10:40 p.m. All the house lights were eventually turned on, and people were told to exit the building.<\/p>\n

The Houston Chronicle reached out to the Houston Police Department and Toyota Center for comment on\u00a0Biosah\u2019s account but did not receive an immediate response.<\/p>\n

Biosah said he arrived at the venue with \u201cmaybe like 20 to 30 minutes left in the concert\u201d\u00a0and entered through a loading tunnel typically reserved for artists, VIPs and backstage personnel. He maintains that he cooperated\u00a0fully with venue security upon entry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI put everything through the security scanner thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Biosah said he made his way to a VIP section without incident. He watched the show for a few minutes before venue security and police approached him.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext thing you know, the cops just come with allegations and things of that nature. That\u2019s how it happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Biosah said he was held in the Toyota Center security office for \u201ca couple of hours\u201d before he was transferred to the Harris County Jail. He was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in a public place, a misdemeanor, according to Harris County court documents.\u00a0Biosah was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 19.<\/p>\n

From his @joshkream Instagram account, Biosah commented directly on ABC13’s post<\/a> featuring his mugshot, \u201cThey told me not to smile so I made that face.\u201d\u00a0He is confident he will be cleared of any charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s funny, man. Some situations are funny but not funny, if you get what I mean,\u201d he said. \u201cIf something\u2019s bull—-, sometimes you just\u00a0gotta play along with it. It\u2019s unfortunate what happened, but I\u2019ve overcome worse in my life, so this is not really that big of a deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Biosah plans to\u00a0issue a statement on\u00a0social media soon and said he is releasing new music next week.<\/p>\n

Before the shutdown, Toliver delivered a high-energy set<\/a> and joined fans on the floor for a few songs. Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard and rapper Bun B presented Toliver with a proclamation recognizing Aug. 11 as Don Toliver Day.<\/p>\n
